Lymm Historic Transport Day 2015

VIDEO: LYMM village turned back the clock at the annual Historic Transport Day which brought the curtain down on another fantastic Lymm Festival.

Early rain fall and grey skies cleared to ensure another fabulous event co-ordinated by a team of around 150 volunteers co-ordinated by organiser Alan Williams.show-ground-aerial-full

Town crier Peter Powell was on hand to help launch the event as thousands of people flocked into the village as a parade of classic vehicles, old and some not so old, travelled through the village centre, befor exhibiting on the May Queen field, alongside various community groups and organisations.

There was something for everyone with vintage and classic cars, steam engines, motorbikes, model planes and even a collection of prams.

Villagers also got the chance to see Lymm from around 100ft up in the air thanks to Greg Miller and his team at United Powered Access, one of the sponsors of the event, who attempted to help warrington-worldwide Editor Gary Skentelbery overcome his fear of heights!

Meanwhile Editor’s mum Patricia Skentelbery was re-united with her very first car which she shared with her brother when she was just 17 – a classic Austin.

Margaret Ingham from Friends of Warrington Historic Transporter Bridge, the only one of its kind in the world, was also on hand with a working model made from meccano, to help raise awareness of the campaign to save the bridge.

Su Williams was also on hand at the Fleece, exhibiting items being collected for a proposed heritage centre in the village.
