VIDEO: A PROPOSED £16m re-development of Great Sankey Leisure Centre will help tackle a “Dementia time bomb” in West Warrington – the town’s largest growing area of ageing population.
Work will start on the new “dementia friendly” facility this summer, with more than £8m of funding already guaranteed, with more to come, culminating in a £16m state of the art Community Hub,
providing a one stop shop for health and well being.
With the planned development of 2,500 family homes in the area the new facility can not come soon enough.
The project is being masterminded by Community Interest Company LiveWire, who are investing £4m in the project, with other funding partners.
During a presentation to launch the project LiveWire MD Jan Souness said West Warrington had the largest area of ageing population which was creating a “dementia time bomb.”
For full details on the project check out the video interview and “fly through” of the proposed Community hub.
