A charity dinner organised by students at Warrington Collegiate helped raise over £2300 for St Rocco’s Hospice.
Ticket sales alone amassed £1000 with over £1300 raised by the raffle.
The event was the brainchild of students studying for the HNC in Business at Warrington Collegiate and was the biggest charity event the group have ever planned.
St Rocco’s was the chosen charity as it is close  to the hearts of the students and their families and  is currently entering  its fourth decade of supporting  individuals with life threatening conditions in Warrington and surrounding areas.
Taking over the Willow Suite at the Holiday Inn, Newton-le-Willows, the students organised a three course dinner with complimentary prosecco reception, a raffle with over £1500 worth of prizes, casino tables and entertainment.
On the night over 80 diners, including individuals and businesses across the north west raised a glass to St Rocco’s who are celebrating 30 years of achievement. The students were supported on the night by Julie Dove, Community Fundraiser from St Rocco’s.
Liz Fox, studying HNC Business at Warrington Collegiate said: “As a student who has seen how important the work that St. Rocco’s do is for people suffering from terminal illnesses, I’m truly touched that we had such amazing support from friends and family on the night and that we were able to raise such an incredible amount of money.  I couldn’t be prouder or more thankful of our team!”
The popular casino table was supplied courtesy of St Rocco’s for entertainment purposes; only St Rocco’s branded money changed hands.
Lynne Bergin, Higher Education Lecturer in Business at Warrington Collegiate was delighted with the amount raised on the night, saying, “I’m so proud of my students. This was a magnificent team effort by a dedicated group of students who have a great future ahead of them.”
