WARRINGTON Wolves have sold hooker Micky Higham to Leigh Centurions with immediate effect for £50,000.
A statement released by Wolves today confirmed the report in Warrington Worldwide at the weekend that Higham was likely to move to his home town club.
The terms of the agreement prohibit Higham from playing in the Ladbrokes Challenge Cup quarter final between Wolves and Centurions.
The Wolves statement said: “We would like to thank Micky for his outstanding service to the club over seven seasons since his debut in 2009. In his time at Warrington he has celebrated three Challenge Cup wins, a League Leaders Shield and reached two Grand Finals. We wish him well for his future.”
Higham was left out of the Wolves team which defeated Dewsbury in the Challenge Cup. He was contracted to Warrington until the end of the season.
Head of coaching Tony Smith said earlier this week that Leigh had made an “unconventional” approach to sign Higham but expected the matter to be resolved “in the right manner.
Wolves originally rejected the approach from the Championship side but it is understood Higham had set his heart on leaving Warrington.
Meanwhile Warrington have agreed terms with London for hooker Brad Dwyer to stay at Warrington for the remainder of the season. He has also agreed a two-year deal for 2016 and 2017.
