Gordon putting Warrington history on the map

WARRINGTON website editor Gordon Gandy has been invited to show case the mywarrington website in Warrington Market.
Market manager Steve Pickering, who is passionate about Warrington and it’s history, invited Gordon to present a display of photographs in the market as part of Love Your Local Market fortnight.
The theme was Warrington through the ages and so Gordon compiled a selection of photographs from his own colection and from Peter Spilsbury’s of Birchwood. They depict the changing times in Warrington town centre from the 1960s to the present day.
Gordon, who hails from Dallam, set up the mywarrington website in May 2005 after a series of mental health problems and used the project to stimulate himself back to health.
In 2013 he was invited into Radio Warrington to chat about his work and soon after station manager Steve Lewis invited him to join the presentation team on Warrington’s community radio station.
He now presents two shows a week and co-presents two others. The mywarrington website, which Steve Lewis describes as being perfect for use on community radio, features in one of Gordon’s shows.
Apart from promoting the market and the radio station, Gordon wishes to use the exhibition to invite Warrington people to write down their memories to share on the website and even to record them in an audio format to play out on Radio Warrington.
If you wish to take part, visit the exhibition and meet Gordon or email him on [email protected]. Visit the website at www.mywarrington.me.uk
