WARRINGTON Wolves suffered last gasp heart-break as Hull snatched a dramatic victory with a drop goal in the 80th minute to win 26-27 at the Halliwell Jones Stadium.

The Wolves had been leading 26-16 with just over 10 minutes remaining on the clock but the visitors scored two tries and half-back Marc Sneyd keep his cool to slot over the winning kick in the 80th minute to secure victory for the Airlie Birds – and revenge for their narrow 6-7 defeat by the Wolves earlier in the season.

The game was end to end pretty much from the kick off with the visitors opening the scoring on 12 minutes when loose-forward Thompson barged his way over with Sneyd adding the extras to make it 0-6.

But within three minutes the Wolves were back on level terms as Joel Monaghan managed to get in at the corner following a cross kick by half-back Declan Patton. Stefan Ratchford added the extras.

Three minutes later Warrington took the lead after Ben Currie found his way over the try line and Ratchford was again on target to make it 12-6. But Hull hit back on 22 minutes when second rower Sa scored out wide but Sneyd couldn’t find the target as the ball drifted wide.

Then on 30 minutes Hull were back in front as Sneyd darted through a gap to score under the sticks and then added the extras to make it 12-16 at the break.

Warrington started the second half brightly as Ratchford was held inches from the line and then on 49 minutes a kick to the corner on the last was reached by Monaghan who bagged his second try of the afternoon. But Ratchford couldn’t land the touch line conversion with the scores level at 16-16.

On 52 minutes Warrington regained the lead as Gene Ormsby took a well timed pass to score in the corner, but Ratchford was again wide with the conversion.

Ten minutes later Ormsby grabbed his second try in the same corner and this time Chris Bridge managed to land the touchline conversion to make it 26-16.

But Warrington were unable to kick on and it was the visitors who finished the stronger as Minichiello found a gap to score on 69 minutes and Sneyd landed the extras to make it 26-22.

With the clock ticking down Hull levelled the scores on 75 minutes as Lineham went over in the corner but Sneyd was unable to land the conversion from out wide making it 26-26.

Play was delayed as Chris Bridge took a knock and then with just seconds to go up stepped Sneyd with his last gasp drop goal to snatch a dramatic victory.
