All set for Lymm May Queen Festival

THIS year’s Lymm May Queen Festival takes place on Saturday June 13 – for one day only – although there are plans to try and make it a two day event next year.
THE Lymm Rose and May Queens were chosen at Lymm Methodist Church, Eagle Brow.
Rose Queen elect is Elizabeth Nelson aged 7 who attends Cherry Tree Primary School, retiring Rose Queen is Zoe Thompson, retiring May Queen is Esme Stevens and May Queen elect is Rebecca Chapman aged 12 a student at Sir Thomas Boteler school.
The procession will commence at 1.30pm from Brookfield road, going down Eagle brow to the Cross, then up Rectory lane and turning right into Church road past the dam. It then turns right into Brookfield road, and then comes down Eagle brow to the Cross for a second time, before heading to the May Queen Field on Pepper Street.
On the field there will be the crowning of the May and Rose Queens, procession of Characters, along with various stalls and funfair rides.
This year’s arena main event will feature 3SIXTY Bicycle Stunt Team.
Festival Chairman Steve Harper said: “You may have seen the May Queen festival advertised as taking place on Saturday and Sunday. Due to unforeseen circumstances this has not been possible for this year, but is something the committee are keen to pursue for future years.
