Frodsham miss out on victory

FRODSHAM narrowly missed out on victory when they had opponents Rylands on the ropes but could not take the final wicket.
Batting first, Frodsham reached an impressive 206-3, Sam Johnston hitting 65, Tom Wilkinson 53 not out and Richard Warburton 30 not out.
Rylands never looked likely to reach the target, but Sean Peters, 29 and Robert Wright, 28 kept the bowlers at bay and despite Gregory Pidgeon’s fine spell of 5-38, Rylands were able to hang on at 133-9.
A depleted Frodsham 2nd were heavily defeated by Mossley, who batted first and reached 199-3 and then bowled Frodsham out for 48.
Kingsley celebrated a three wicket win over Chelford, with Peter Pearce, 5-27 and Mike Yeates, 3-19, doing the damage as Chelford were bowled out for 134.
The in-form Mitchell Headrick, 46 and Alan Ritchie, 20, starred with the bat as Kingsley replied with 137-7.
Kingsley 2nd totalled a useful 190-8 against Wilmslow Wayfarers with Andre Ainsworth hitting 52, Steve Forster 35 and Chris Martin 25. But it was enough to trouble the Wilmslow side who hit 194-7.
Pick of the bowlers for Kingsley were Andrew Bratt, 4-35 and Jonathan Storey, 2-46.
Alvanley managed to hang on for a draw after their batsmen failed to chase a stiff target set by Irby, 197 all out.
Joe Hornby took 5-45 and James Ecclestone 3-50.  But Alvanley were hanging on at 134-8 at the close, Stephen Charles and Chris Charles each hitting 22.
Alvanley 2nd claimed a seven wicket victory over the Irby second string, who they restricted to 174-4, Charlie Fletcher taking 2-26. Alvanley hit back with 175-3, Ben Aveyard hitting 48 and Glenn Pickersgill 46.
