Clean-up operation in Whitecross

FLY TIPPING and waste in Whitecross, Warrington has been tackled in a joint effort from residents and the council.

A clean-up day was organised on 16 April by the council’s central neighbourhood team, with the waste service, following a reported increase in fly tipping and the contamination of blue bins in the area, which meant they weren’t being emptied.

During the day the team moved 78 contaminated bins, 80 pieces of fly tipping like mattresses, wood and carpet, and 112 bin bags.

Council officers spoke to over 40 residents to raise awareness of what can be put in the blue bins and gave advice and information about waste disposal.
