Homes plan given the green light

NINE homes can be built on the site of a former mental health residential home, Warrington planners have decided.
The development will take place on a largely overgrown piece of land in Delenty Drive, Birchwood.
Members of the borough council’s planning committee approved the scheme for five detached houses and four bungalows submitted by Classic Contractors and NHS Property Services.
The existing derelict house will be demolished and a number of self-seeded trees will be cleared. But there are two, protected mature oak trees on the site which will be preserved.
Planning officers recommended the scheme for approval which, they said, was consistent with the need for housing in the area.
The development will be handily placed for schools, doctors, dentists, leisure and sports, district and local shopping, as well as a wide range of employment opportunities.
