Helping older people in their own homes

A NEW initiative has been launched in Warrington’s Bewsey and Dallam areas to help older people stay independent in their homes for longer.
“Warrington Healthy Homes” service supports vulnerable people aged over 65 who struggle with simple things and helps them to stay safe and well in their homes.
It is particularly aimed at people who own their home or are renting from a private landlord.
The healthy homes team visit people to assess how they can support with a range of things including health proofing in the home, home safety and security, benefit advice and grant eligibility and support to access services.
Team members can also help with locks, security, improved lighting, repairs, heating, improvements, trusted contractors and free advice.
The service is delivered through Warrington Homes Improvement Agency (WHiA) and is part of the wider “Delivering Wellbeing in Bewsey and Dallam” project headed by Warrington Borough Council and Warrington Partnership.
Further advice is available from the Warrington Healthy Homes on 01925 246812.
