New development to rise from ashes

PLANNING chiefs at Warrington have given the go-ahead for an office and retail/restaurant development on the site of a workshop building destroyed by fire some years ago.
The development will bring back into use a piece of vacant land off Knutsford Road, Latchford.
Urban Developments Ltd have been granted permission for a single storey building at the junction of Knutsford Road and Carol Street which will consist of two office units and either a small retail store or restaurant.
The site was originally occupied by an embroidery workshop until it was destroyed by fire.
Currently the site – known as Weir View – is empty and fenced off.
The property will front onto Knutsford Road but access will be from Carol Street. It will include parking for 18 vehicles, cycle storage and a bin compound. Landscaping will be carried out around perimeter.
Although the site is said to have a high probability of tidal and river flooding, it is protected by the recently constructed flood defences along Knutsford Road.
