WARRINGTON Wolves recorded their second victory of the season over Super League leaders Leeds Rhinos at Headingley.
Tony Smith’s side ran in five tries to end Leeds’ 100% home record, little over a month after they had also ended the Yorkshire club’s unbeaten start to the season.
Tries from Gene Ormsby, Joel Monaghan and Ashton Sims had the Wolves in control at the break at 14-4, and Ben Currie and Roy Asotasi tries early in the second half consolidated the advantage.
Mitch Achurch crossed for a second Leeds try, before young half-back Declan Patton put the icing on the cake with a drop goal for 29-10.
It spoiled former England captain Kevin Sinfield’s night – the rugby union bound star was making his 500th appearance for the hosts.
The win lifts Warrington up to fifth in the table.
