WARRINGTON Market is joining hundreds of markets across the country to celebrate “love your local market” fortnight.
The annual two-week campaign will take place from Wednesday May 13 to Wednesday May 27 May, to celebrate local markets and encourage people to take a fresh look at their own market.
Last year Warrington Market won an award for the best national campaign for its Love Your Local Market campaign and this year aims to be bigger and better.
Highlights of the two-week celebration include a “Warrington Market into the future” comic convention style event on Saturday May 16 and Warrington Food Festival on Saturday May 23.
Among the attractions coming to Warrington for the futuristic day are Titan the Robot, Dr Who and the Daleks, the sisters from Frozen, the Delorean time machine and a Star Wars replica spaceship with characters!
There will also be a children’s fancy dress competition and an adult’s cosplay competition for those really into their comics.
During the fortnight there will also be history tours with TV personality Mark Olly running every Wednesday and a photo exhibition.

“The campaign is an excellent example of bringing all parts of the community together to celebrate markets and to revitalise the high street. We’re particularly celebrating the future of Warrington Market as the Bridge Street development progresses and we look forward to a future home. We’ve got some real treats in store for people over these two weeks and I hope everyone comes along to join in the fun.”
