MORE than 200 people living in Warrington have given up drinking in the last year – thanks to support from the Pathway to Recovery service.
The service, commissioned by the borough council’s public health team, exceeded its aim to get 140 people alcohol free from April 2014 – March 2015 and saw 217 people in total give up drinking.
The free and confidential alcohol treatment and recovery service provides education and prevention measures to reduce hazardous drinking and future problems.
The team work with service users and their communities to improve health and wellbeing.
Steve Reddy, executive director for families and wellbeing, said: “This is a great result for all of the people who are now alcohol free and focussed on their recovery. It shows what a positive impact the service has in supporting people to tackle their alcohol consumption and stop altogether. This is also having a positive impact on their general
health and wellbeing, family life, and has increased their employment opportunities.”
For free and confidential advice or information, visit www.warrington.gov.uk/alcohol or contact Pathways to Recovery (CRI) on 01925 415176, out of hours helpline: 07919558644.”
Pathways to Recovery hold clinics in the community and work intensively with individuals to reduce their alcohol consumption and address other issues which contribute to their alcohol use.
Home detox has also proved to be very popular and effective in working with people in their own homes to become alcohol free.
