Slydigs aim to conquer world!

FOUR schoolfriends who launched their own rock n roll band Slydigs, which has been likened to the Rolling Stones, are hoping to “conquer the world” as they prepare to release their debut album.

Warrington based Slydigs are celebrating after being signed by Flicknife Records with their new debut album ‘Never To Be Tamed’ set to be released on Monday September 24 via Itunes, Amazon, Rough Trade and HMV.
Lead Singer Dean Fairhurst and lead guitarist Louis Menguy, both originating from the Warrington/Greater Manchester area, began formulating their own band after leaving high school in 2006.
After being informed by the careers officer that the only place they were bound for was, either the building site or the dole queue, they took it upon themselves to form, what would be, the enigmatic Rock & Roll band, Slydigs.
The bands’ influences range from the Rolling Stones to the Clash, to Bertolt Brecht to Hunter S. Thompson. Main songwriter Dean Fairhurst fuses classic rock structures with tailor-made Rock & Roll Poetry intended for Arenas around the world.

But it’s not just their music that burns with ambition, the four-piece have their eyes set on conquering the world and this year has seen the band take to the road in earnest, in an effort to convert new followers to their gospel of rock ‘n’ roll. Having already supported the likes of the iconic New York Dolls, The Fall, Alabama 3, Pete Doherty, Idlewild, The Rifles, Slydigs are no strangers to the live scene and see the stage as a home from home. It is there, in the pubs and clubs of the UK & Ireland, that they have refined their distinctive sound.
Frenchy Gloder, (Flicknife MD) says ” Slydigs are the most exciting band we have signed in the last 20 years!”
The band’s online Debut single ‘Eelectric Love’ (which British music bible the NME declared as being “one of the five tracks you must listen to this week”) was awarded video of the week on Sky Music Channel Lava and also the Radar Section on NME TV. Channel 4 has featured it on a new programme, “Fresh Meat” and channel Five have also featured it on the advertisement for up and coming shows.
They have been invited to perform on a new music TV Show- Rule Britannia, set to feature on Sky 1 & ITV – In addition, their track Electric Love has been chosen to be the theme tune for the programme!!
