Homecoming parade – if Wolves win

MORE details have been released of the homecoming parade for Wolves to take place on Sunday, August 26 if the team bring the Carnegie Challenge Cup back to Warrington for the third time in four years.
The parade will start at 4pm at Orford Jubilee Neighbourhood Hub when the team will return to home soil after their big game in London.
There they will board an open top bus and pause for speeches and a photo opportunity with the Mayor of Warrington, Cllr Steve Wright.
The bus will then travel along the A49 with the players and the cup to The Halliwell Jones Stadium where it will again pause for a few minutes for a photo opportunity.
It will then make its way through the town centre, past the bus interchange, along Scotland Road, Academy Way, Barbauld Street, Wilson Patten Street, Winmarleigh Street and finally will turn onto Sankey Street and into the Town Hall.
The parade is expected to take approximately 45-60 minutes to reach the town hall where the gathered crowds will see the Mayor officially welcome the team.
Once at the town hall the players, coaching staff and club directors will have an official photograph taken before joining the Mayor and Mayoress of Warrington and other distinguished guests for a civic reception in the town hall.
A bank holiday fun day organised by LiveWire will be held at Orford Park on the Sunday afternoon featuring fairground rides and displays and demonstrations by the Wolves Foundation.
This event will go ahead from 2-6pm whether Wolves win or lose.
Public access to the front lawns of the town hall will be permitted from 3pm onwards, the capacity of which is limited to 10,000 for safety reasons. This year’s route has been designed to allow fans the best views of the open-top bus and to give more people than ever the chance to welcome their sporting heroes home.
A dedicated disabled area with clear views will be provided at Orford Jubilee Hub and at the front of the town hall lawns. Each wheelchair user may be accompanied by one helper, carer, friend or family member.
There will be no parking available at the town hall for this event; however, free Sunday parking is available at Golden Square. As the event is taking place on a Sunday afternoon additional bus services have been arranged by the council to help fans get home safely after the homecoming.
Drivers should note a series of road closures will be in operation in the town centre only during the procession, at junctions joining the parade route.
