Man attacked in village

POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a 30-year-old man was attacked in Lymm village.
The incident took place in the early hours of June 28 in the centre of the village at around 12.15am when the victim was walking through the village with a friend.
As they walked along The Cross towards New Lane they passed four young men who walked onto the towpath facing the Bulls Head pub.
Words were exchanged and the victim was then grabbed and dragged to the floor and assaulted suffering a fractured left eye socket and extensive bruising as a result of the incident.
One of the men is described as white, around 6? tall, aged between 18-22-years-old with short blonde hair and of stocky build.
One of the other men is described as white, around 5? 7″ tall, of similar age to the first man and of skinny build. He was wearing a khaki coloured t-shirt.There are no descriptions of the other two men at this time.
DC Stephen Deehan, who is investigating the incident, said: “This was a nasty assault that has left the victim with facial injuries. We are currently following up a number of lines of enquiry in relation to this incident and are appealing to anyone who was in the centre of the village in the early hours of the morning on that day and witnessed what happened or who may have seen something significant to come forward.
“We are also appealing for anyone who has any information regarding the identity of the offenders to get in touch.”
