RESIDENTS of Warrington are being invited to get involved in Make a Noise Week – a week of free activities across the borough organised by Positive Futures.
From June 6-10 there will be a programme of local events marking 11 years of the Positive Futures programme transforming young people’s lives and celebrating the work they do in local communities. 
With 91 projects across the country, Positive Futures is a national youth crime prevention programme working with children aged 10-19 who are vulnerable to substance misuse and crime.
Run by charity Catch 22, its aim is to engage young people in sports, leisure and arts activities and training.
The team in Warrington delivers sessions in all neighbourhood areas and have a variety of initiatives happening throughout the year.
In Warrington, Make a Noise Week will have special projects and Olympic themed events to raise the profile of Positive Future and get on the radar of young people in the borough.
Cllr Kate Hannon, the borough council’s executive member for Leisure, Community and Culture, said: “We encourage as many young people as possible to come along and get involved with the great activities going on during Make a Noise Week. This event marks the fantastic work Positive Futures does in our community.”
The programme of events includes a Warrington v Everton cross code challenge, with touch rugby, football and a race between mascots Wolfie and Changy the Elephant at Whitecross Community Centre on June 6.
From June 6-8 there will be an Olympic themed arts and sports session at the Pyramid Centre and Queens Gardens and on June 7 there will be a football match between Bewsey and Birchwood at Whitecross Community Centre.
On June 8 Lysander High School will be the venue for the “Thank God its Friday” summer spectacular, with handball, volleyball, athletics and archery and on June 9 there will be family sports, including football, rugby, golf, basketball, etc at St Peters Park, Scott Street.
On June 10, there will family table tennis at Soccer Warrington – with county and national coaches on hand.

Where do they get these captions from?
Make a noise week? Can you imagine how that will be interpreted by the majority who won’t get involved anyway. They will see it as a green light to do just that in the communities across town. As for thank God it’s Friday!! I didn’t notice any mention of it being a religious event.
