WARRINGTON Council has released more details about the Queen’s visit to the town this Thursday (May 17) to officially open the Orford Jubilee Neighbourhood Hub.
The visit, accompanied by HRH The Duke of Edinburgh, is part of her ongoing tour of the regions to mark her Diamond Jubilee year.
The Royal party is expected to arrive in Orford late morning (around 11am) following their first engagement at Chester Zoo and will be in Warrington for a relatively short time,of around 40 minutes.
Immediately after the visit the Queen and HRH The Duke of Edinburgh will be heading to Liverpool for a lunchtime tour of the Albert Docks.
There will be one road closure on the day, Jubilee Way (just off the A49) which will be closed to traffic from 8am and some minor diversions will be in place.
As the Royal party arrives in/ departs the borough there will be a brief rolling road closure provided by the police, but all other roads are unaffected.
The council is not able to confirm details of the Royal party’s route(s) into/out of town as these are set by the Police.
There are designated wheelchair areas and disabled parking on site but both are limited and on a strictly first come, first served basis.There will be no public parking at Orford Park.
Traffic cones will be out on surrounding residential streets on the day so it’s probably best to walk, get dropped off or take public transport.
A special shuttle bus service will operate from the Market car park in the town centre, which will run twice every 20 minutes between 9 and 10.30am to Orford Park and from 1 to 2pm on the return. There will be a small number of seats available on the day for people with mobility issues.
The Queen is touring the hub and the outdoor facilities as well, so the council is unable to guarantee availability across the whole site. Members of the public are however welcome to bring small, portable chairs if they wish.
The council has submitted very detailed plans to the Palace along with a comprehensive guest list which have both been signed off, therefore no further changes or additions can be made at this time.
During the visit local community groups and children from nearby schools will be providing dance and sport displays, there will be a series of choirs and musical performances and much, much more!
After arriving The Queen will tour the grounds and the newly completed £30 million hub building, taking in the new café, library and learning spaces before officially opening it.
Orford Jubilee Neighbourhood Hub opens its doors to the public from Friday May 18 onwards.

She is in Warrington for 40 minutes – how many pounds per minute does that work out.
It’s lucky the country is in such a fine economic state and the council has nothing better to spend our money on!

You might be anti-Royal, but you are in a minority. 40 minutes or 4 hours, it is good for the town.
Look at it another way, if the cost is a problem, anything over the 40 minutes would have cost more. Get a life.
Nick you are becoming a one trick pony and you should be living in a country that suits your needs.
Whether you’re royalist or otherwise, you should all be thankful at being being able to express your reasonable opinions without being called to account by the state we’re in.
Oh dear – that is such a cliche , and one with no basis. This is MY country. I am proud to be british – that pride is not dependent on the feudal nonsense of the monarchy.
It is because I am patriotic that I feel its people deserve a true democracy.
why can’t she visit and see what a state the country is really in, rather than rose tinted glasses. i have to agree, waste of money. The local council has had people in on overtime for the last month to tidy footpaths etc. These sort of actions is what costs jobs!
