School that's good in all areas

A SCHOOL which, in the past, suffered from “staffing turbulence” is now rated as good in all areas.
Inspectors from Ofsted, the Office for Standards in Education, came to this conclusion after visiting Penketh South Nursery and Primary School and observing 12 lessons taught by eight teachers.
In their report, the inspectors said: “This is a good school. It has improved steadily in recent years and provides a secure and safe environment… “Achievement and teaching is good and there are examples of outstanding practice, most lessons are lively and engaging and pupils are involved in stimulating, active learning.”
The inspectors also met with pupils, the governing body and staff. Analysis of 115 responses to parental and carers’ questionnaires showed that the school is regarded highly by a large majority of parents and carers.
Although the school had been affected by past staffing turbulence, the current head teacher provides clear and focused leadership, the inspection team reported.
She is effectively supported by a group of committed senior leaders who share her ambition for the school.
The inspectors also recognised that there was an experienced governing body who knew the school well and who were not afraid to ask challenging questions.
Head teacher Angela Grace said: “We are very pleased that Ofsted recognised the huge progress we have made as a result of the efforts of our staff, pupils and the community as a whole.
“We are proud of what we have achieved and are committed to constantly improving teaching so that it is recognised as outstanding overall in the future.”
