DEVELOPERS are poised to submit new plans for a housing development on the site of a petrol filling station near Warrington.
The scheme would involve houses built around a courtyard to be created on the site of Rushgreen Service Station, in Rushgreen Road, Lymm.
Earlier proposals for retirement homes on the garage site were rejected in 2007 after Lymm Parish Council and numerous residents objected to plans put forward by McCarthy and Stone.
There was an acrimonious planning battle which went to a public inquiry.
But the new proposals are not for retirement homes.
Cllr Sheila Woodyatt, who represents the area on Warrington Borough Council, said: “The parish council was never against the principle of redeveloping the site.
“But we felt the proposals in 2007 were too large for the site.
“The new application has not yet been submitted but we understand it looks like a good scheme.”
Rushgreen Service Station is one of only two petrol filling stations in Lymm. It also includes a small convenience store.
*Plans have also been submitted for a demountable classroom at Cherry Tree Primary School, Lymm. The proposals do not involve an increase in the number of pupils but are designed to eliminate problems caused by having to hold classes in the school library.
