Clinical Wolves slay Tigers

WARRINGTON Wolves were back to their clinical best with a near perfect

first half performance as they over ran Castleford Tigers 54-6 at the

Halliwell Jones Stadium.
The game was over as a contest before the break as the Wolves ran in seven tries without reply to build up a 38-0 half-time lead.
In a more scrappy second half they were restricted to three tires with on loan Wolves’ player Lee Mitchell grabbing a consolation try for the visitors.
Man of the match Chris Bridge opened the scoring after just five minutes, with Joel Monaghan and Brett Hodgson both bagging a brace, with other scores coming from Trent Waterhouse, Ryan Atkins, Chris Riley and Simon Grix.
Hodgson landed seven from 10 conversions.
After the game Wolves’ assistant coach Willie Poching said a flying start had been key to the success.
“It was a nice way to start and a good effort to get out of the blocks like that.We got the rewards on the scoreboard and it was nice to see it all come together from the off.
“We tried to continue in the same way in the second half but credit to Castleford, they rolled up their sleeves and tackled well.
“But we still managed to create opportunities and score some excellent tries. Chris Bridge was explosive and punched some big holes and worked well with Joel Monaghan.
“Ryan Atkins and Chris Riley also did well together on the right wing.”
