THE M6 southbound carriageway was closed near Warrington after a multi-vehicle crash.
Three cars, a lorry and a trailer carrying a mini-digger were involved in the incident.
Fire and rescue crews from Warrington were called to the scene and helped clear the motorway of debris.
It is understood a trailer being pulled by a heavy goods vehicle became detached and three cars then collided with the trailer.
All three southbound lanes of the motorway were blocked near to Junction 19.
No-one was hurt, however.
