FIRE crews were called to tackle a blaze at the disused Hermit public house at Winwick, Warrington last night (Sunday).
Initially two fire engines attended the fire at the premises on Golborne Road, Winwick which was later increased to four.
The fire involved the disused pub, which was a two storey building with a single storey extension.
Crews used two main jets to fight the fire which was located in the extension area of the building. Four firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used two hose reels to prevent fire spread into the main part of the building.
Crews are still in attendance at the incident and have checked the premises with a thermal image camera to confirm there are no additional hot spots.
