Youth Café tackles smoking issues

A SIX-day project is running in Warrington this week to target young smokers and those who may be tempted to start smoking because of peer pressure.
The Youth Café based in Warringtont own centre is running the campaign which will have a special focus tomorrow (Wednesday) on National No Smoking Day, when an NHS adviser will run sessions.
A Warrington Youth Support Service no smoking advisor will also be on hand all week to provide support. Information on the dangers of smoking and the implications for people’s health will be available.
During the week the Youth Café will start its own smoking cessation group, which will meet regularly to support young people who want to quit the habit.
Cllr Colin Froggatt, (pictured right) executive board member for children and young people, said: “Smoking kills and it’s important we do all we can to prevent young people from taking up this habit and supporting those who want to quit.
“That’s why its good news the Youth Café is leading the way by running this project and starting its own smoking cessation group.”
