Homes evacuated as barn blazes

A NUMBER of nearby residents were evacuated from their homes at Warrington after fire broke out at a barn.
Police are appealing for information from the public following the blaze at the barn in School Road, Orford at about 8.50pm last night.
Officers attended the scene and assisted with local road closures while firefighters tackled the blaze.
A number of residents were evacuated but no-one was injured as a result of the incident.
The circumstances of the fire are being investigated.
Inspector Andy Ross, of Warrington Central Neighbourhood Policing Unit, said: “At this stage it is unknown how the fire started.
“We are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident, knows who is responsible, or has any information, which might assist with our enquiries, to get in touch.
“Even the smallest amount of information can be useful when piecing together a case.
“We are currently following up a number of lines of enquiry and are urging anyone who was in the area around the time of the incident and might have seen anyone acting suspiciously to contact us.”
Incident commander Helen Tooley, from Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service, added: “This was a very serious fire, which required the evacuation of neighbouring properties and involved firefighters containing the fire and preventing the blaze from spreading.
“All the crews did an excellent job at this challenging incident. We are urging anyone with any information to assist us in our joint investigation with Cheshire Police.”
