Education awards ceremony

STUDENTS from Warrington Collegiate who have achieved success were celebrated at a Higher Education awards ceremony.
The ceremony, held at St Elphin’s Church, was to present academic certificates to those who have completed HNC, HND, NVQ, Foundation Degrees and teacher training.
In addition several students also received special awards for outstanding achievements in their subject areas.
Paul Kinsella received The Phil Callaghan Memorial Award for outstanding achievement in IT.
Thomas Boughey was awarded The Graham Lewis Award for Construction and Steve Brookfield was given the Award for Outstanding Achievement in Higher Education. He is now studying Applied Criminology at the University of Huddersfield.
Mature student Gillian Tyer, won the prestigious Student of the Year Award.
She said: “Before starting the course I had low self-esteem, I now have confidence in my skills and am looking forward to future prospects. I have loved the whole learning experience and plan to study the Foundation Degree in Business and Management in the near future.”
Collegiate principal Paul Hafren said: “Our students all work hard to produce fantastic results and the ceremony was a great way to recognise their achievements. We wish them every success as they move on to continue their studies or to employment.”
