Walk-in health centre opens

NHS Warrington has opened a temporary walk in centre, based at Garven Place, off Sankey Street, which is operating on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday this week and next during the day.
The aim is to relieve pressures on the health system and ensure health staff deal with patients needing urgent care as well as giving advice to people suffering from the ‘flu or winter bugs during the festive season
Health bosses are asking people to use the emergency services sensibly.
A spokeswoman said: “If you are suffering with the ‘flu or other winter bugs please do not turn up at A&E…. if you are able to then please stay at home and get advice and or medication from your pharmacist.
If you do need to see a GP, then in the first instance contact your family doctor.”
Alternatively people can ring NHS Direct, for help and advice on 0845 4647.
