Cat on a hot tin…er…cooker!

A CAT which likes to take a nap on a hot cooker triggered a fire alert at Warrington.
Fire crews were called to a house in Poplars Avenue, Orford when fire broke out in the kitchen.
A cloth, placed on top of the electric cooker to keep it clean when a cat jumps on it, burst into flames as a result of the ring being left on.
The woman occupant tackled the blaze and it was out by the time firefighters arrived on the scene. But the woman suffered smoke inhalation.
A Fire Service spokesman said: “Apparently the lady can’t stop her cats jumping on the cooker to sleep in the warmth after it has been used.
“She puts a cloth on top to keep the cooker free of cat hairs. But inevitably the ring was eventually left switched on and the cloth was set alight.
“No damage was caused but we have advised the lady not to put cloths on the cooker.”
The cat – having presumably used one of its nine lives – escaped unharmed.
